NAWALPARASI: One person died and 17 others were injured in separate road accidents in Nawaparasi on Monday night. A pedestrian died after a commuter bus hit him in Chitwan on Monday night.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the bus (Na 5 Kha 270) heading towards Kathmandu from Narayangarh hit the 70-year-old man at the Byapss Road in Bharatpur yesterday.
Police said that the identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
Police have impounded the bus and arrested its driver for investigation.
Similarly, 10 persons were critically injured in a bus-truck collision in Prasauni-1 of Nawalparasi on Monday night.
The incident occurred when the bus (Lu 1 Kha 5632) collided head-on with the truck (Na 5 Kha 772) along the East-West Highway.
There were 45 passengers on board the bus.
Police said the bus driver fled the scene after the incident.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Madhyabindu Hospital, Danda.
Likewise, seven persons were injured when a bus (Lu 1 kha 8476) they were travelling on met with an accident at Basabasai, Tilakpur-6 of Nawalparasi along the East-West Highway on Tuesday.
The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Hospital, Butwal.
According to the District Police Office, Nawalparasi, the bus driver has fled the scene after the accident.
