Cabinet declares area for Second International Airport
KATHMANDU, March 14: The cabinet meeting held on Friday declared area spread over 80 square kilometers in Nijgadh of Bara as ‘aerodrome area’ for construction of second international airport (SIA).
According to Civil Aviation Act 2015, the Government of Nepal by publishing a notice in Nepal Gazette can declare any area or place in Nepal, specifying its boundaries on all four sides, as an aerodrome area.
Okil Chimauriya, project manager of SIA, said. “We will carry out works like demarcation, fencing, rehabilitation of squatters, and distribution of compensation to the land owners. For this we have already started discussion with the Ministry of Finance.”
Chimauriya said it will take around three years to clear the area.
