Water Crisis In Damauli
DAMAULI, March 19: Locals of Damauli in Tanahun district are facing acute shortage of drinking water after the water motor failed to extract water from Madi River since Monday.
Chairman of Damauli Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer Organisation, Shanti Raman Wagle said, “Thunderbolt might be the reason behind damage in the pump.” Damaged two motors are being repaired in Butwal and Narayangadh, he added.
“Water motors are being repaired,” he added, “Water supply will be smooth in few days. ”
Local, businesspersons and School Leaving Certificate examinees are facing a hard time due to water shortage.
Water is supplied once in every three days to the houses of locals in Damauli, the Organisation said.
People in wards 2, 10 and 11 of the city need around 2.5 million litre water every day. However, the Organisation has not been able to supply water as per demand.
A new drinking water project with an investment of Rs 270 million in the pipeline, it is learnt.
