18th Flora Expo-2071 kicks off



KATHMANDU, March 21: The 18th Flora Expo-2071 began from Saturday at Bhrikutimandap in the Capital with an objective of promoting floriculture.
Minister for Agriculture Development, Hari Prasad Parajuli, inaugurated the four-day expo, organised by the Floriculture Association.
On the occasion, Minister Parajuli expressed the belief that the expo would help promote the floriculture in the country abroad too.
Stating that the government has adopted a policy to uplift the living standard of rural areas and modernisation in agro sector, he expressed commitment that there would be a full support from the government for the development of floriculture.Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry, Uttam Kumar Bhattarai, said that the government had already established a Flower Development Centre in 2060 BS for its development and started implementing ‘Flower Promotion Policy’ by formulating it in 2069 BS.Association Chairman Loknath Gaire said that the expo was organised with the objective of increasing production of flower and its promotion.

Different species of flowers, agro appliances, and flower vases among others are put on display in the expo where there are a total of 78 stalls.

The organiser expects that some 50,000 people will visit the expo which will witness a transaction worth more than Rs 6 million.
