Rapist held after two years
LAMJUNG, March 29: A man has been arrested for raping a woman more than two years ago.
Prakash Nepali, 29, of Bhadratar, Lamjung, who was arrested in Kathmandu , was brought to Lamjung on Thursday to proceed with legal action.
Nepali has been charged with raping a 59-year-old women more than two years ago. He was on the run since. A police team headed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Himal KC, with the help of the Metropolitan Police Range, Maharajgunj, had arrested Nepali in Manamaiju in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
“He had changed his name and was living in a rented apartment,” said Inspector Rajendra Adhikari of District Police Office, Lamjung, adding that Nepali was produced before District Court yesterday.
After Nepali raped and murdered the elderly with the help of Radha KC, 32, a local, the victim’s son had filed an FIR with police against the duo on December 9, 2012. Radha was sent to jail for 20 years by District Court.
According to DSP Pawan Giri, Nepali’s arrest became possible following a tip-off. “Court proceedings are on,” he said.
