Unknown disease kills four in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT, Apr 8: Four people have died in a week due to an unknown disease that spread in remote VDCs in Jajarkot district with hundreds more falling sick.

The disease has spread in Archani, Paik, Nayakbada and Sakla VDCs. Three residents of Paik VDC succumbed to the disease while one of the victims was from Archhani VDC.

The deceased are Jaysari Rokaya of Paik VDC-4, Khamba Bahadur Nepali of Paik VDC-5 and a woman of Paik VDC-3, whose identity has not been ascertained yet.

Similarly, Susmita Jaise (16) of Archhani VDC-3 died of the disease, said a local teacher, Mohan Shahi. Headache, chest pain, aching hand and legs, and fever are symptoms of the disease, said locals.

Chief at the District Health Office, Dhir Jung Shah, said that a team comprising health workers along with necessary medicines have been sent for the affected areas.
