Man held with 20 kg silver in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, Apr 10: Police have apprehended a man with a huge cache of illegal silver from near the Shankarcharya Gate in Birgunj on Friday.

The suspect has been identified as Chandan Sarraf of Ghadiarba, Birgunj-13.

A police team deputed from the Narayani Zonal Police Office, Birgunj nabbed Sarraf with 20 kg illegal silver at around 7 am today.

Sarraf was heading towards Raxual of India on his bike (Na 25 Pa 7114) when the police

team intercepted him and while checking his bike police recovered the illegal silver hidden under the bike’s seat, SP Manoj Neupane of the Narayani Zonal Police Office, Birgunj informed.

According to police, Sarraf has been smuggling the silver for the past four to five years.

The market price of the seized silver is around Rs. 1.2 million.

SP Neupane informed that they are investigating into the case.
