Fire victims get relief
SAPTARI, APR 12: The Saptari District Natural Disaster Relief Committee and various organisations provided relief materials to the fire victim s of Rampura Malhaniya-5 on Saturday.
Local Development Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala said food, clothes and other essentials were distributed to the victims.
Chief District Officer Birendra Kumar Yadav, who also heads the relief committee, said they have kept the record of the fire victim s to facilitate relief distribution.
A massive fire had burned down 183 houses at Rampura Malhaniya, rendering 74 families homeless, on Thursday afternoon. The victims had lost all their valuables and belongings in the inferno.
In another incident, a 72-year-old woman and her nine-year-old grandson have sustained serious burn injuries in a house fire at Khejenim VDC-1 in Taplejung district.
Furbadiki Sherpa and her grandson Sabin were rescued from their burning house on Thursday night, police said. They are being treated at the Taplejung District Hospital.
The boy has suffered 40 percent burn injuries on his body. Doctors have advised that he should be treated in a well-facilitated hospital. The condition of his grandmother is also serious. She has suffered severe burn injuries inside her mouth and having trouble breathing. The family members of the victims said they do not know what had caused the fire.
