RAUTAHAT, APR 13: The family of Ram Ashish Thakur, who died during the agitation in Gaur, was provided Rs 500,000 in reparation.

District leaders of UCPN (Maoist) led 30-party alliance jointly held a press conference on Sunday to hand over the money to the deceased’s spouse Bhawanidevi and son Ram Prasad Thakur.

A phase-wise agitation started on March 16 at the call of Rautahat Chamber of Commerce and Industry against the government decision to establish service centres of Land Reform and Survey offices at Chandranighapur. Thakur had died after being knocked down by an Armed Police Force (APF) van in course of the agitation.

The agitation ended after a seven point agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the 30-party alliance, and the government.
