Student enrollment drive intensifies
DAMAULI, APR 16: Student enrollment campaign for the upcoming 2015/16 session has been intensified in Tanahun.
The campaign kicked off with the slogan ‘Let’s send all school-age children to school by making schools free of violence, misbehaviour and discrimination’, informed District Education Office, Tanahun.
As per the plan, schools across the region will start admitting students from April 15 to April 29. The kids will be welcomed at schools with a smile, garland, and vermilion, accompanied with local cultural and traditional programmes.
Home visit programmes for kids who aren’t admitted to school till the end date, will be conducted from April 30 till the second week of May.
Babu Ram Devkota, assistant district education officer, said his office had been conducting regular interactions with stakeholders to ensure retention of students and to promote quality education. Similarly, child and gender-friendly atmosphere at the school has been prioritised.
“We have urged various local clubs including mothers’ groups, child clubs and guardians, among others, regarding other activities so as to make the task more effective and successful,” said the DEO.
At least three per cent of school age kids in the district have stopped going to schools. Various special programmes will be launched to bring all the children to school, said Devkota.
