Swine flu infected climbs to 185 in Chitwan

RATNANAGAR: Nineteen more new cases of Swine flu have been confirmed in Chitwan, taking the total infected to 185 so far.

Of the latest samples sent for test to the capital, the Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control Division has confirmed positive in 19 persons, according to the District Public Health Office, Chitwan. The total number of infected was 166 till April 19 and the new confirmation takes the total number of people carrying the H1NI flu virus to 185, said Vector control Inspector at the Office Ram Kumar KC.

The report of another 18 samples is yet to be received. Of the 19 new cases, one patient is from Udayapur and the remaining from Chitwan, added KC. Samples are sent for confirmation to Kathmandu after initial tests at Chitwan indicate the possibility of the Influenza infection.

So far, 547 samples have been sent for laboratory test from Chitwan. Of the 185 found infected so far, 156 are from Chitwan, 17 from Nawalparasi, two from Udayapur and one each from Rautahat, Janakpur, Kaski, Gorkha, Rupandehi, Parsa, Tanahu, Mahottari, Bara and Kavre.
