5 held for cheating with fake dollars in KTM

KATHMANDU, APR 23: Police on Wednesday arrested five persons on charge of cheating a man with fake US dollar bills in the Capital.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bauddha, nabbed Bipin Lama (21) from Barhabise of Sindhupalchok, currently residing in Bauddha of Kathmandu, and four others.

Police said the gang defrauded one Rajan Thapa (30) from Birtamod of Jhapa, currently residing in Bauddha, KMC-6, of Rs 250,000. The gang had handed Thapa a bundle of papers claiming they were US dollar bills before running away with the money, according to police.

Meanwhile, police also recovered USD 410 and NRs 175,500. Further investigation into the case is underway.
