Chitwan collects quake relief aid of Rs 30 million



Chitwan, May 12: Chitwan district alone has gathered relief assistance including cash and kind worth tens of millions rupees for the quake-struck people.

The relief aids collected in Chitwan have been distributed to quake-hit neighbouring districts including Gorkha, Dhading, Makawanpur, Nuwakot and Nawalparasi.

The accurate statistics of relief collected has yet to be established as raising aid is being carried out by several organizations and groups in the district. If media report is something to go by, Chitwan alone has collected and distributed relief worth more than Rs 30 millions.

The all side quake survivors relief committee-2072 has so far collected relief amount of Rs 4.4 million. Likewise, Rs 1.5 million has been raised under the aegis of District Natural Disaster Relief Coordination Committee. The Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has collected and distributed relief aid worth Rs 2.5 million in Gorkha, Dhading and Nuwakot, said its Chairperson Kalyan Joshi.

Nepal Egg Producers Association has distributed relief materials worth Rs 1.15 million to quake victims, informed its chairperson Shivaram KC. Among others collecting and distributing aid to quake-hit are Industry Association Chitwan, Poultry Entrepreneurs Forum, Poultry Welfare Association, Market Management Association, Manakamana Darshan Private Limited, Bharatpur Eye Hospital, Regional Hotel Association, Bar Association, Lions Club, Community Health Centre, Baghmara Central Community Forest, Hotel Monalisa, Student Volunteer Placement International, Sapana Village Impact and journalists, Banana Entrepreneurs Association, Chitwan Gorkha Society, community forests and private sector.
