Tarpaulin sheets distribution stopped after dispute
Kathmandu, May 13: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman, Subas Nembang, has directed to stop tarpaulin sheets distribution after dispute surfaced in course of distributing it to lawmakers today. The government was distributing the tarpaulin sheets.
Some of the lawmakers requested CA Chair Nembang citing it was not genuine to distribute the tarpaulin sheets to lawmakers at a time when the earthquake victims are still deprived of it.
Stating that the tarpaulin sheets were being distributed without informing him, Nembang said the distribution of tarpaulin sheets was stopped after his directive.
Spokesperson at the Parliament Secretariat Mukunda Sharma, however, told media persons that the tarpaulin sheets were distributed at the call of Urban Development Ministry and Home Ministry. Some 200 lawmakers have already taken the tarpaulin sheets.
The CA meeting called at 1:00 pm has been disrupted due to dispute over tarpaulin sheets distribution.
Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel had announced that he would not take the tarpaulin sheet.
Similarly, CPN (UML) leader Surendra Pandey returned the tarpaulin sheets after the dispute.
Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Kamal Thapa, said that he would not take the tarpaulin sheet at a time when the real victims of quake are still deprived of it. RSS
