Health camp treats 170 quake victims at Banskharka

Kathmandu, May 13: Nepal Kidney Foundation has established a health camp and distributed relief materials at the Banskharka VDC-8 located in a rural part of Kavre.

Foundation Chairman Dr Shakti Basnet and coordinator Ganesh Upreti said a blanket each and food commodities were handed over to all the families in the village.

A medical team comprising Nepali and Australian doctors has treated 170 people and provided cost free medicines, Upreti said. He said that medical staff operating in the health camp escaped with life on Tuesday after a powerful 6.8 magnitude aftershock razed down a two storied building lying only 10 meters away from the camp.

Meanwhile, Dr Basnet warned the fostering bacteria from the corpses of the dead villagers and livestock could invite a new epidemic. The Foundation has been distributing relief materials and running health camps in other affected regions.
