Minister Acharya calls on disgruntling Madhesi parties to join constitution-drafting

Kathmandu, July 4: Minister for Law and Federal Affairs Narhari Acharya has called on the Madhes-centric political parties to join the constitution drafting process.

At a programme organised by the Dhapasi Jagaran Society in honour of senior citizens Saturday, Minister Acharya urged the disgruntling Madhes-centric parties to come to a consensus bearing in mind that it was the best option of drafting the constitution.

Senior citizens are the pride of present generation and they should get respects, he said, adding that rights to elders were the agenda of Nepali Congress’ 1990 election manifesto.

The preliminary draft of the new constitution has a separate provision regarding issues of the new citizens, and still something could be added to the draft to increase their rights in the constitution.

On the occasion, elderly citizens of wards no 1 to 6 of Tokha municipality were honoured with offerings of juice, tonics, Rudraksha garland, and Rs 500 in cash to each. RSS
