Call for effort of all to help maintain harmony



Dhangadi, Sept. 12: Emphasis has been laid on mutual cooperation and collaboration between the local administration, security bodies and media persons in order to stop the situation from further deteriorating following the violent incident of Tikapur.

At an interaction held here on Friday evening, the participants pointed out the need for joint initiative of all sides to help restore harmony and normalcy in the district.

Media persons on the occasion said easy flow of information could help restore peace and help maintain social harmony.

Chief District Officer of Kailali Mohan Bahadur Chapagain stressed on the need for cooperation between the administration and media persons.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Nepal said the situation of law and order is now under control and added that so far 21 people have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place in Tikapur.

Among those arrested on the charge of involvement in the incident are Kailali District Chair of Tharu Kalyankari Sabha Lahuram Chaudhary, central member of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic Laxman Tharu, Karan Chaudhary and Bishram Chaudhary. A case of murder has been registered against them.

Eight police personnel and a child was killed in the violent incident that took place in course of demonstrations demanding a Tharuhat province in Tikapur on August 24. Tikapur remains under a curfew ever since.
