Maoist leaders criticise Home Minister for sending leaders’ kin to China
The decision was taken at the ongoing Central Committee meeting after leaders demanded an investigation into the selection, which they lamented had diminished the party’s standing.
Hemraj Bhandari, a UCPN-M central member, proposed for an internal investigation while another central member Ganga Karki demanded a commitment to end the increasing trend.
Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet, one of the ministers representing the party in the government, had recently sent UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s grand-daughter and his own daughter for China visit which was meant for earthquake victims.
After the leaders had vehemently pressed for the investigation under any circumstances, Dahal had assured of the same.
In the CC meeting ongoing for the last 10 days and the Standing Committee meeting held on Saturday, leaders had slammed the ministers representing the party in the government accusing them of ‘incorrect’ working style and of bypassing the party’s mechanism formed for monitoring the government’s activities.
“At least eight CC members spoke during the meeting on Sunday”, said the party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, adding, “Three CC members would speak on Monday.”
