Now we need be self-reliant: senior leader Khanal

Ilam, Dec 20: Senior leader of the CPN (UML), Jhalanath Khanal, has said the country needs to become self-reliant by learning lessons from the scourge of border blockade imposed by India.
Inaugurating the Archale Bridge at Maipokhara on Sunday, senor leader Khanal said the country was witnessing many challenges due to the blockade.
The former Prime Minister said, “Foreign countries cannot interfere with Nepal’s internal matters. It is against international law and welfare.”
He stressed the need of augmenting economic activities with the successful implementation of the new constitution.
Moreover, the senior leader Khanal argued that the new constitution is a model constitution which has represented all classes and communities, and is paving ways for development.
There was no point in staging sit-in at border, for the constitution itself addresses the genuine demands of the agitating ones, he said, adding the disputes can be resolved through the parliament.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 43.5 million. RSS
