Ministry of Forests presents progress report in parliamentary committee

Kathmandu, Dec 28: Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation today has presented the quarterly progress report of the current fiscal year 2072/73 BS at the meeting of the Environment Protection Committee under the Legislature-Parliament.

Uday Chandra Thakur, secretary at the Ministry, submitted the report and stated that the REDD Forestry and Climate Change Programme supported by the World Bank has achieved 93 per cent success while the President Chure Tarai-Madhes Conservation Development Committee has made only 15 per cent success.

The Ministry has run different 15 programmes including these two programmes. Among these programmes, three programmes had made progress above 80 per cent, 10 projects have achieved above 50 to 80 per cent success and the remaining ones below that.

The committee chair Janak Raj Chaudhary complained that the Ministry has failed to implement effective works though government has invested huge amount in it.
Lawmakers, Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, Tukraj Sikdel, Bir Bahadur Lama among others had expressed their views in the meeting.

The Ministry has over Rs 13.26 billion annual budgets and Rs 190 million revenue were collected within the quarter of this fiscal year, it was shared in the meeting. RSS
