‘Lumbini Peace Marathon’ postponed



Kathmandu, Dec 30: The ‘Lumbini Peace Marathon’ scheduled for March 22, 2016, has been postponed for the time being due to unfavourable situation for spiritual sports activities.

Issuing a press release, organizer Bikram Pandey said that they had planned to organise the Peace Marathon on March 22, Fagu Purnima Day because Fagu Purnima marks the Day Siddharth Gautam had embarked on returning home, Kapilvastu, as Englightened Shakyamuni Buddha.

The press release states that organizer had designed the route from the beach of Ban Ganga River, visiting Tilaurakot, Kapilvastu Palace to Lumbini Sacred Garden.

It may be noted that such peace marathon along this Kapilvastu Dohani Lumbini Route earlier to celebrate the closing ceremony of Visit Lumbini Year.

Pandey said that such peace marathon would help for the publicity of the Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, in the world.
