Efforts for child-friendly local governance
Punarbas (Kanchanpur), Jan 1: Efforts are underway in Punarbas municipality of Kanchanpur district to enable child-friendly local governance by increasing children’s access to social and development works.
The initiative for child-friendly local governance is so far the first bid in far-werster region in line with the government policy towards enhancing access of children to development works and decision-making level.
As Sunwal of Nawalparasi was declared to be the first child-friendly municipality of Nepal, preparation are underway to make Punarbas a child-friendly local body.
Once meeting all the criteria stipulated in the government guideline, the Punarbas municipality will be declared chid-friendly local body, said Executive Officer of Punarbas municipality Sher Bahadur Budha.
“The municipality is carrying out several works such as formation of child clubs in wards, child network and child protection committee in a bid to establish and institutionalize child rights”, he said.
