eed lots of study while formulating cooperative act: DPM KC



Kathmandu, Jan 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Chitra Bahadur KC, has pointed out the need of carrying out a great deal of study in course of formulating the act related to cooperatives.

At a programme organised on the occasion of the fifth annual general meeting of Nepal Cooperative Journalist Society here today, DPM KC stressed the need of carrying out study over the weakness in the draft of the Cooperatives Act, saying the draft has already been prepared. The cooperative is the important pillar out of the three pillars of the economy, he added.

DPM KC further said that the cooperative act would not be effective if national and international principles are not adopted.

He said, “It is necessary that the members of the cooperatives should inquire that where and how their capital is being used.”

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry, Shanker Prasad Adhikari, stressed the need of carrying out works for the management of cooperatives as number of cooperatives has been increasing.

Chairman of the National Cooperatives Board, Keshav Badal, stressed the need of promulgating the cooperative act without hampering the cooperative campaign.
