Madhes issues should be resolved thru talks, FNJ Chair says
Birgunj, Jan 5: Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Dr Mahendra Bista has stressed the need for dialogue among the parties concerned to resolve the ongoing Madhes agitations.
Speaking at an interaction programme on hardships of Tarai-based journalists organised in Simara of Bara on Monday, Dr Bista said that the issues of Tarai-Madhes should be dealt politically due to their political characters.
“The issues should be resolved through the medium of talks and dialogue, and media should play positive roles for this to happen,” the FNJ Chairman added.
Saying that everything was in mess and journalists were unsafe due to agitations in the Tarai districts, Dr Bista urged all stakeholders to be serious to end the ongoing unease situation.
Likewise, former chairman of FNJ Dharmendra Jha said that the media should be able to perform the role of a mediator to end the country’s internal problems.
Also speaking at the programme, FNJ central committee treasurer Suryamani Gautam, FNJ former vice-chairman Govinda Acharya and other journalists expressed their opinions on professional, physical and social security of the media persons.
