Cabinet expansion was govt’s compulsion; UML Secy Bhattarai
Bhimdattanagar (Kanchanpur), Jan 6: CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai today said that splitting ministries and cabinet expansion beyond set limitation was a compulsion of the government.
He said that the Cabinet was expanded in a bid to retain the government by distributing portfolios to other various political party leaders with the Nepali Congress having majority seats in parliament deciding to sit in the opposition.
“It is not good to expand the Cabinet to this extent at this point of time. We also have drawn attention of Prime Minister on the matter,” he however, said.
Bhattarai was speaking at a press conference organised by Kanchanpur branch of Press Chautari Nepal.
In a different context, he said that there were difficulties in implementing the constitution due to the dissatisfaction among Madhesi people with the charter, adding that the issue of the boundary delineation should be resolved through a political committee.
“The present seven-state structure should not be reviewed at any cost,” he said.
He also said that the ongoing protest in the Tarai is not in the hands of United Democratic Madhesi Front leaders. He said that rather those involving in smuggling of goods and gasoline have controlled over the agitations and that the government should do the needful to control it.
