HPEF distributes sleeping bags to quake survivors



Kathmandu, Jan 8: The Himalayan Peace Education Foundation (HPEF) has provided sleeping bags to the earthquake-affected families living in the temporary shelters in Kavre, Sindhupalchok and Rasuwa districts.

The HPEF is an NGO which has been supporting schools in terms of physical infrastructure and the students providing them educational and sports materials.The Foundation handed over 100 sleeping bags to the child care centre where 88 earthquake-affected families and 36 children from Tiru and Lumbadanda villages in remote Hanku VDC are taking shelter.

Similarly, the Foundation on Thursday distributed sleeping bags to 130 earthquake-hit families at a Majhi community settlement located close to the bank of the Bhotekosi River that forms the boundary between Kavre and Sindhupalchok district.

A team comprising Salam Singh Lama, a Nepali entrepreneur based in Alabama, the USA provided the relief materials through the United Nepal Organisation, HPEF president Rajendra Bahadur Lama said.

According to him, the Foundation has so far handed over quilts and sleeping bags to some 600 earthquake-affected families.
