DPM Gachchhadar calls for flexibility for the success of talks

Biratnagar, Jan 13: Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic), Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar has called on the major big parties and the Madhes-centric parties to give up obstinacy and work for making the btalks successful.

Addressing a news conference organised by the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Morang committee here on Wednesday, he urged the United Democratic Madhesi Front, which is waging agitation protesting some provisions of the constitution, to renounce extremist views and become flexible on matters of delineation of the federal states. He opined that the three eastern districts of Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari should not be split in the name of resolving the dispute regarding delineation of state borders, stating his party would wage a peaceful movement if that was done.

DPM Gachchhadar said forming eight states in total with an additional state comprising Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and some parts of Siraha district would be the best alternative to resolve the standoff over the issue of border delineation.

He suggested merging the Kailali and Kanchanpur districts in the west with the lower province and the districts Palpa, Gulmi and Arghakhanchi districts with the upper province.

Noting that the country was amidst a great deal of challenges ahead, the Deputy Prime Minister said the government was working with vigour to provide services and facilities to the people.

“The government does not have any magic stick (to resolve the problems pronto). Since the government is formed in a very difficult juncture, the people as well as all the parties should extend cooperation to it for resolving the problems in a gradual manner,” he said. RSS
