Government serious towards refugees’ tribulations: DPM Thapa



Damak, Jan 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa has said the government was serious towards ending the problems faced by the Bhutanese refugees.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Bhutanese refugees at Damak of Jhapa on Thursday, DPM Thapa said the government was eager to permanently resolve the problems of the refugees living in camps in eastern Jhapa and Morang.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by the refugees, DPM Thapa assured the government would work for ending the refugees’ tribulations at the earliest. “The government will work to send the Bhutanese refugees back to their homeland with honour,” Thapa said.
The Bhutanese refugees have called on the government to start diplomatic initiative at the earliest for ending refugees’ problems while Bhutan Independent People’s Forum among other organizations submitted separate memorandums.
