Sirens installed in Kanchanpur village to ward off wild elephant

Bhimduttanagar (Kanchanpur), Jan 17: In a bid to protect the villagers from wild elephants, three sirens have been installed at Baduwal village of Dodhara Chandani Municipality in Kanchanpur.

Local community security committee and buffer zone user’s committee initiated the project with fund from various donors.
“Every year, wild elephants straying from nearby Indian forests enter the village, attack locals and destroy crops. Siren helps people stay on their toes whenever there is emergency in case of wild elephants entering the village,” said Amar Bahadur Basnet, chairman of the Sagarmatha Buffer Zone User’s Group.
