Primary school with appalling history gets facelift
Jajarkot, Jan 18: A primary school that was first damaged in the police firing and later from the lightning strike at a remote village in Jajarkot has been constructed recently.
The building of Ganesh Primary School based at Labisa village in Laha VDC-8 was constructed from Lamipakha Community Organisation with technical supports from the Danphe Youth Club.A total of eight persons including a member of the school management committee, a health worker, three teachers and three parents had lost their lives and the school building was damaged when the police personnel opened fire in 2055 BS.
Three years later, three persons including a teacher, a student and a local resident died when the lighting struck the school building.
Chairman of Lamipakha Community Organisation Chandra Bahadur Damai said that the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) provided Rs 1.83 million for the school building construction while the locals donated the labour worth Rs 777,000.
School headmaster Rudra Bahadur Shahi said that locals’ participation in the school building construction would obviously help in raising educational awareness in the village.
