Snowfall hits far-western region



Baitadi, Jan 20: Snowfall occurred in hilly districts of the far-Western region including Baitadi last night owing to change in weather patterns since Tuesday morning.

The snowfall has affected normal life of people in the hilly belt of far-Western region.
According to Baitadi District Police Office Chief DSP Mohan Pokharel, the snowfall occurred in Baitadi headquarters, Dehimandu, Gurukhola, Nagarjun, Hatairaj and Kataujpani last night.
Likewise, the snowfall was also visible in Darchula headquarters Khalanga, Rapla, Ghusa, Khandeswori, Chhingaru, Byas and Tinker, said Darchula District Police Office Chief DSP Sushil Singh Rathaur.
Most of the people residing in high-hill areas of Darchula had descended to district headquarters Khalanga two months earlier to shake off cold.
Earlier, Darchula had witnessed heavy snowfall on first and third weeks of January.
Locals have said that the snowfall is also taking place in different areas of Bhimdutta Highway including Dadeldhura district headquarters. Similarly, the areas in and around Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Highway of Bajhang have also been covered with snow.
The ageing people, children and daily wagers have been affected due to excessive cold following snowfall.
