Parliamentary Committee tells CIAA to investigate into Lumbini Development Trust



Kathmandu, Jan 21: The Legislature-parliament committee on international relations and labour has directed the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to investigate into the financial irregularities thriving in the Lumbini Development Trust and bring the culprit to book.

The committee meeting on Thursday reiterated that the officials in the Trust were involved in corruption, so investigation into it was essential. Similarly, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has been directed to amend the Trust’s Act in order to make it result-oriented and transparent.
The parliamentary committee raised the questions as what are Trusts’ sources of income in the last five years, and how the income was used in different plans and programmes. The Ministry is further directed for massive publicity of the Trust and globalize the facts relating to Buddha.
Similarly, the Trust has been asked to wipe out irregularities in the appointment of its employees and seek suggestions from Public Service Commission while appointing permanent employees.
