Border area development programme in mid-Terai eight districts



Janakpurdham, Jan 22: The border area development programme has begun in eight mid-Terai districts with a view to improving livelihoods of people in the southern borders of Nepal.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MOFALD) has started implementing the programme in Nepal-India bordering areas of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts.
Among major activities of the five-year programme are public awareness creation, empowerment through training, capacity building, agricultural promotion, social and physical infrastructure development based on the local needs and demands.
