Four ministers make surprise inspection of NOC Thankot depot

Kathmandu, Jan 22: Four ministers Friday made a surprise inspection of the Thankot Depot of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Minister for Home Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Supplies Minister Ganeshman Pun and Minister of Population and Environment Bishwendra Paswan were at the NOC Thankot Depot late this evening. On the occasion, they took stock of status of fuel storage at the depot and discussed about possible measures with depot officials to improve the fuel supplies system, according to NOC Spokesperson Mukunda Prasad Ghimire.
The four sitting ministers’ surprise visit to the NOC main depot was made when the country has been hit hard by the severe shortage of fuel.

Fuel distribution to ease in two days

The Corporation has also decided to make its distribution system effective considering the scarcity of fuel even though a significant quantity was coming into the country through all the transit points except Birgunj.

Accordingly, the NOC is preparing to bring in fuel to the capital from various fuel stations outside the valley. Though availability of LPG or cooking gas is still a problem, the NOC is working to ease distribution of petrol and diesel within the next two days, spokesperson Ghimire said.
