CDC at Phoolbari Brick Factory
Banepa, Jan 26: A Child Development Centre has been established at Phoolbari Brick Factory at Kashikhanda Municipality of Kavrepalanchowk targeting the children of the workers there.
The two-room building was constructed at a cost of over Rs 200,000 targeting 31 children from one year to five years. The Shanti Janaadarsh Sewa Kendra, Dhulikhel, constructed the building with the technical support of Global Fairness Initiative.
An arrangement of a teacher has been made to teach the children.
Executive Director of the Centre, Dinesh Lama, said that there are also children from Rukum, Rolpa and Ramechhap and they would study there for six months and the children would be recommended at the districts concerned for the study.
Stating that such programme has been launched as a project to provide education opportunity to the children of the workers working at three brick factories in the district, he said such programme has also been launched at Jageshwori brick factory at Sharada Batase VDC and Palanchowk Bhagawati brick factory at Panchkhal.
Lama said, “Our aim is to discourage child labour.”
Similarly, Students Enrolment Campaign to the children from 6-14 years was underway.
