Climate change adaptation practice begins in Madi



Ratnanagar (Chitwan), Jan 28: The climate change adaptation practice has begun at Madi in Southern Chitwan.
The programme has started at Someswor Central Community Forest area with the assistance of the Terai Arc Landscape (TAL) Project. It has been put in place to carry out climate change adaptation activities including agro production.
The area has been selected for intervention as the study undertaken by TAL revealed that the climate change will have high impacts in Madi of Chitwan among other areas, said Project’s assistant field officer Prem Poudel.
Under the climate resilient practice programme, a check dam will be constructed on the banks of local Khahare Khola at the cost of Rs 4.2 million this year. Among other activities on cards are management of the rivulet through organic engineering technology and manufacturing bamboo godown and plantation of saplings in different areas.
The adaptation exercise has begun at Chharchhare, Ghoshari, Dhikurbari and Radhapur of Baghaudi, among others, in Madi, Poudel added.
