Politics of negation will weaken democracy: Sharat Singh Bhandari
Bardibas, Jan 31: Chairman of Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Sharat Singh Bhandari said the politics of negation would weaken democracy.
Talking to media persons at Bardibas of Mahottari this morning about the country’s latest political developments, Party Chair Singh, who is also the leader of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) agitating in the Tarai, argued it was not good to prohibit the activities of political parties.
Preventing the entry of other political parties including Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) to the Madhes and prohibiting their activities is not the agenda of the agitation, he said, while adding such culture would give birth to dictatorship.
The Nepali Congress should be allowed to hold peaceful political activities in the Tarai without any restriction in view of the party’s upcoming 13th General Convention, he said.
The Madhes-centric leader further expressed his hope that a draft of the integrated Madhes agitation would be prepared soon as meaningful discussions have begun to form a greater alliance among the Madhes-based parties. He further accused the state of becoming conservative regarding the Madhesh voices and prolonging it.
