Freedom fighter Joshi passes away



Kathmandu, Feb 1: Democracy fighter and Nepali Congress Parbat district committee former president, Narayan Prasad Joshi, passed away today. He was 93.

He died while undergoing treatment at the Janamaitri Hospital at Balaju, the Nepali Congress said in a statement.

Joshi was unwell for the last 15 years and had been living at home. He was admitted to Bharatpur Hospital sometimes back and then to Janamaitri Hopspital.

Joshi had played active role in the struggle for democracy. Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala, through a condolence statement, expressed deep sorrow over Joshi’s demise. Koirala stated that Joshi’s demise has caused irreparable loss to the party.

Joshi’s final rites would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat at 5 pm today, according to family sources.
