58 killed in course of Madhes agitation: Home Ministry



Kathmandu, Feb 1: A total of 58 people lost their lives to date in course the Madhes movement that began with the promulgation of the new constitution in the country under the leadership of parties dissatisfied with the delineation of federal units, among others.

The death toll includes security personnel, agitators and common people. Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Yadav Prasad Koirala shared this information at a press meet organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications Monday.

According to Joint Secretary Koirala, a committee formed to investigate the brutal killings of security personnel including Senior Superintendent of Police ( SSP) Laxman Neupane( promoted to DIG posthumous) in Tikapur of Kailai by the armed agitators has its completed task.
Necessary arrangements from the security level have been made for smoothly operating major highways and spur routes linking the district headquarters to ease the supplies system, the Home Ministry said.
Similarly, the Ministry in touch with the authorities concerned to avert the probability of black marketeering of essential goods and border smuggling in view of transition in the country.

CCTV Installation and Operation Procedure-2072 and UAV Drone (Unmanned Ariel Vehicle) Work Procedure-2072 have come into force.
