EU, SI and Japan condole NC president Koirala’s demise



Kathmandu, Feb 10: The European Union, Socialist International and Japan have expressed sorrow over the passing away of Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.

Secretary General of the Socialist International, Luis Ayala, has today sent a condolence message to the Nepali Congress over the demise of NC President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
The message states that the democratic movement of Nepal suffered an irreparable loss in the death of Koirala.
Similarly, Ambassador of the Delegation of European Union to Nepal, Rinsje Teerink extended heartfelt tribute to late Koirala.
In a condolence message, EU Ambassador Teerink said that Koirala was good friend and well wisher with clear understanding of the role of bilateralism in promoting external diplomatic ties to ensure Nepal’s well being.
She said, “During this difficult moment, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the Nepali Congress and all Nepali people who have given their support and hand in promoting democracy and freedom.”
Likewise, Japan also expressed heartfelt condolence over Koirala’s demise and remembered the historic role of late Koirala to promulgate the new constitution.
In a condolence message to acting President of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Masashi Ogawa, on the behalf of the Japanese government, extended condolence to the bereaved family and the Nepali people.
