KC re-elected Rastriya Janamorcha chairman



Lumbini (Rupandehi), Feb 22: Chitra Bahadur KC has been re-elected the Chairman of the Rastriya Janamorcha by the party’s Third National Conference that concluded here last night.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Poverty Alleviation, KC was elected unanimously.Similarly, Rashmi Raj Nepali has been elected the executive chairman, Badre Alam and Durga Poudel as the two vice-chairpersons, Janak Raj Sharma the general secretary, Hem Lal Puri the secretary and Om Bahadur KC the treasurer.

The 31 central members who were elected before elected the office-bearers of the party. The national conference has also elected six alternate members, six advisors and a 200-member National Council.

Party calls for scrapping federalism

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Janamorcha has decided to wage a movement calling for scrapping the federalism, citing federalism has sown the seeds of disintegration and communal discord in the country.

The Third National Conference of the party held in Butwal stated this in its declaration. The conference has also unanimously passed the party chairman’s political proposal that emphasizes on establishing a unitary system of governance with democratic decentralisation and local self-governance.

The party also concluded that the country was passing through a difficult situation and called on all parties to be united to face it. It also demanded scrapping the provision made in the constitution that stipulates that the election constituencies would be formed based on the population and what it called the ‘lenient’ provision on citizenship. The party also demanded providing voting rights to the migrant Nepalis abroad and creating separate constituencies for the dalits and women, among others.
