NC committed to resolve disputes with Madheshi leaders: newly elected General-Secretary Koirala



Kathmandu, March 9: Nepali Congress (NC) newly-elected general-secretary Dr Shashank Koirala has reaffirmed that his Party was committed to resolve the issues with Madheshi leaders through consensus, collaboration and mutual trust.

In a press statement he issued today, the newly elected general-secretary admitted that there were discontent in the Madhesh, the cradle of democracy, but the differences could be ironed out through collaboration, mutual understanding, coordination and mutual trust.
“Today’s inevitability is the social justice based on nationality, democracy and democratic socialism. It is our responsibility to build trust, forge national unity, mutual understanding and foster collaboration, coordination and social harmony on the foundation of social justice,” the press statement reads.
Noting that the youthful enthusiasm, spirit and activeness had been the source of inspiration of the Party, general-secretary Koirala admitted that a huge responsibility had befallen on the shoulders of NC with the election of new leadership.
The statement also states the role of NC in poverty alleviation, eradication of illiteracy and resolving the unemployment problem by utilizing the rich natural resources of the country as hydro power and dynamic human resources while keeping up with unity in diversity and social harmony among the marginalized communities.
Koirala, in the statement, has also thanked representatives of the recently concluded NC’s 13th national convention, observers, leaders, cadres as well as well-wishers for their contributions in making the convention a success.
The message also notes that election of representatives in the Party was a method to elect fresh leadership to regularize the Party and further institutionalize it. “To keep the Party alive and kicking, several nominations were filed for the various executive committee positions in the Party,” the statement reads.
Koirala has also congratulated newly-elected NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and treasurer Sita Devi Yadav.
He also pledges to move ahead on the path shown by the founding members of NC – BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Subarna Samsher Rana, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and leaders like Ganeshman Singh, Ramnarayan Mishra, Mahendra Narayan Nidhi, Ram Krishna Tharu and Sushil Koirala among others.
