CDO-led team inspects route to Tilicho Lake

Mustang, March 13: A team led by Chief District Officer in Mustang Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari has inspected the trekking route to the Tilicho Lake in Mustang in a bid to upgrade it.

The flow of tourists visiting the lake situated on the highest altitude in the world is increasing day by day, but a lack of proper road always poses problems.
District Development Committee (DDC) said that although it comes up with plans to upgrade the track, a lack of budget always makes the matter worse.
During the inspection, a team of Nepal Army cleaned up the track from Jomsom to Tangdung, CDO Adhikari said. The 62-member team includes Nepal Army and Armed Police Force officials and local people.
The team also concluded that many segments on the track lack signposts and there is a lack of proper management of water, hotels and lodges.
“Tourists are falling on hard due to a lack of such facilities on the way. We have drawn attention of the DDC and Annapurna Conservation Area to the matter,” Adhikari said, adding that flow of tourists could further go up if the track is upgraded.
The team also concluded that authorities concerned should be active in promoting the local tourism.
