Date expired medicines in market

Jajarkot, March 18: The date expired medicines have been sold out in local markets for no effective monitoring.

Stakeholders complained that the wrong practice has been in place due to ignorance on part of the monitoring authority concerned.
It is reported that the out-of-date daily consumptive goods are being transacted in over a dozen markets including district headquarters, Dalli, Kalimati and Rimna. The issue had come to light when a juice served to the Home Minister of the country while he was in Jajarkot some days ago was found with expired date.
There has been no as such market monitoring effort to check sale and distribution of date-expired goods in Jajarkot for the past five months. With this, the local consumers are being cheated every day, said civil society leader Rajendra Bikram Shah.
On the other, Jajarkot Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam pledged to resume market monitoring tasks soon citing recent appointment of the Assistant CDO in the district.
Locals shared the mostly available date-expired goods in the market are noodles, biscuits and edible oil.
