Govt. preparing to develop IT sectors: Information Minister



Kathmandu, April 4: Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai today said that Nepal could be digitalized by expanding access of information technology to entire people as this era is the period of information and technology.

Inaugurating the five-day training on the National Substantive Training on Open Government Data for Sustainable Development organised by the National Information Commission (NIC) in the Capital today, Minister Rai said that despite various challenges, the government was preparing to develop the country in terms of information and technology.

Saying that the constitution has ensured rights of all groups and communities, he said that all political parties should unite to take the country on the path to development economically, socially and culturally while working for the implementation of the constitution.

He also informed that preparations were underway to assign information officer at all government offices to make public works of the government in a transparent manner.

Also on the occasion, Chief NIC Commissioner Krishna Hari Banskota said that the training will discuss issues like rights to information and open government data and sustainable development.

Likewise, NIC commissioners Yasodha Timilsina and Kiran Pokharel said that the system of open government data would help strengthen democracy. RSS
