Martyr Ram Prasad Rai remembered



Kathmandu, April 28: Martyr Ram Prasad Rai’s contribution to the establishment of democracy in Nepal was commemorated in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
At a programme organized by Martyr Ram Prasad Rai Memorial Foundation, various speakers demanded martyr Rai to be declared national luminary while highlighting his contribution to the establishment of democracy.
On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare CP Mainali said it was the contribution of martyrs like Rai which had made possible to bring democracy in Nepal. He said it was very frustrating that Ram Prasad Rai was enforced disappeared following the establishment of democracy.
Former Minister Gopal Kiranti demanded prescribing the biography of martyr Rai in the university curriculum without being prejudiced.
Foudnation Chair Tara Devi Rai accused the state of ignoring martyr Rai and stressed the state should pay respect to his contribution to the liberation of people.
Born in Basikhora of Bhaktapur in 1965 BS, martyr Rai had waged war against the then Rana government.
