Aftershock jolts Dhading



Kathmandu, May 11: An aftershock of the April 25, 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale and with epicentre at Marpak of Dhading district was recorded at 7.4 am today, the National Seismology Centre has stated.

This aftershock occurs on the same day last year when a 6.9 Richter scale powerful aftershock of the Gorkha Earthquake with epicentre at Singati of Dolakha hit the country, causing widespread damage in Dolakha.Aftershocks and some minor quakes at new places continue to occur one year after the 7.6 massive of the Gorkha Earthquake. The occurrence of aftershocks has somewhat thinned of late.

So far 452 aftershocks of the Gorkha Earthquake have been recorded by the National Seismological Centre.
