PM Oli offers garland on Madan-Ashrit statue



Kathmandu, May 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today offered garland on a statute within the premises of CPN (UML) old central office at Madan Nagar in Balku to mark the occasion of the 23rd Madan – Ashrit Memorial Day.

On May 16, 1993 (Jestha 3, 2050 BS), CPN (UML) the then General Secretary, Madan Kumar Bhandari, and Organization Department Chief, Jivraj Ashrit, were killed in a road mishap at Daasdhunga of Chitwan.

The party has been marking their death anniversary annually with programmes across the country.

PM Oli, who is also CPN (UML) Chairman, said Bhandari propounded a visionary ideology of ‘People’s multi-party democracy’, and added it still remained relevant for Nepali communist uprising. He said the party was following the ideology for country’s prosperity.

On a different note, PM Oli urged the agitating parties to join the mobilization of the volunteers for post-quake reconstruction starting from May 20.

At the programme, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Bhim Rawal, CPN (UML) Vice Chairman, Bamdev Gautam, among others paid their tributes to the late leaders. RSS
