Large number of Buddhists in Lumbini



Lumbini, May 21: A large number of Buddhists have thronged Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha, from early morning on the occasion of 2560th Buddha Jayanti.

Buddhist pilgrims have thronged the premises of Mayadevi Temple carrying banners of different organisations related to Buddhism to worship Mayadevi.

Number of Buddhists has increased this year as compared to previous year as the government made preparation to celebrate this year’s Buddha Jayanti with special ceremony.

Presidnet Bidya Devi Bhandari, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Parliamentarians, and guests from 28 countries have already arrived here for the Buddha Jayanti ceremony.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would arrive in Lumbini after a while. Ananda Pokharel performed worship at Mayadevi temple in the morning from the position of Minister for Culture, tourism and Civil Aviation.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is inaugurating the special ceremony going to be organised on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
