‘India demonstrated high handedness’
Kathmandu, Aug 3: CPN (UML) secretary Pradip Gyawali has said that India has always demonstrated its high-handedness towards Nepal.
Gyawali was speaking in a programme organised by the Youth Association Nepal today to honour Dev Narayan Yadav and Durga Naryan Jha who resisted against the attack by Indians on Nepalis during a clash between Nepalis and Indians that took place in Tilathi.
On the occasion, he said although they had tried to foster understanding between the two sides, India has been overbearing in every way.
“Our nationalism is not anti-India nationalism; but if we are treated unfairly, we will not at all tolerate that,” the UML secretary said, adding, “We would not allow even an inch of our territory to be grabbed until the last drop of blood.”
President of YAN Rajiv Pahari said the Tilathi incident was an incident of foreign interference in Nepal and that there was the need of spearheading a nationalist movement against the interference in the sovereignty and national integrity of the country.
Gyawali honoured Yadav and Jha presenting them with a dhoti (a loin cloth) and the Nepali cap. YAN vice-president Dilu Panta, and Yadav and Jha, the injured in the Tilathi incident, spoke of the need of underatking a nationwide movement against Indian interference in Nepal. RSS
